First-year of the child can be seen as the fastest year of development. You can see your child achieving a new milestone since the second month of birth and every month he or she is learning something new and fascinating. From smiling to responding to noises to recognizing touch, to rolling on his or her tummy to responding to music, all these can be seen as development milestone in the first year. By the end of the first year, a child should be able to crawl or walk with the help of support, say minimum five simple words, wave at people, and point at things with fingers and drop things on purpose.
Milestones achieved in the first year are carried forward in the second year as the child starts to run and jump, speak simple sentences, do simple pretend play and follow simple instructions such as pick up the ball or throw the ball.
